The Gourmet Area, coordinated by Galician chef Kike Piñeiro, holds its tenth year elaborating a menu that reviews his most characteristic creations.
The PDO delle Venezie will once again sponsor this area and will display its wines made with Pinot Grigio variety to a global audience.

The Gourmet Area, the WBWE’s gastronomic area, will honor 10 years of this event tailoring a special menu, which traverses the most remarkable mouthfuls of the last few years, by Kike Piñeiro, who is responsible for this area, and chef and co-owner of the restaurant A Horta d’Obradoiro, in Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
On this very important occasion, Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC continues to sponsor us. Visitors will be able to discover their wines first hand, savoring them as part of some of the menu’s creations.
Piñeiro has selected his most emblematic culinary creations from the menus from recent years, based on the success or their originality. In addition, some of them have been reinterpreted and adapted with new ingredients:

Through this menu, we aim to pay tribute to the tenth year of the WBWE. Since its creation in 2013, the Gourmet Area has been one of the most original and acclaimed spots by visitors. An area that demonstrates the versatility of wine as part of cuisine and can be used as a reflection of the international nature of this event by means of a gesture to cuisines of the attending countries.
Wines with Pinot Grigio: “Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie”
Established since April 2017, the DOC Delle Venezie, previously a PGI, is the new Italian designation of origin entirely devoted to the Pinot Grigio variety.
This designation gathers the following regions: Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto, as well as the autonomous province of Trento. These terroirs represent 85% of the Italian production of Pinot Grigio, the grape which characterizes the DOC and 43% of the global production of that variety.
This Italian wine-growing region lived through a great revolution over the past years; it was marked by improvement in terms of quantity, because the production in Véneto has increased more than double since 2010, but also in terms of quality, as innovation and technology have been a huge driver to achieve a more sustainable and respectful viticulture with the environment.
